Sue Doctor for Compensation Claims

A GP’s role

General practitioners are often the first point of call when you are suffering from an illness. A GP has a number of key duties including diagnosing illnesses, providing health advice to patients, prescribing medicine or treatment in appropriate circumstances and in some cases performing minor forms of surgery.

GPs therefore have far reaching responsibilities and also act as the gateway to other medical services as they are duty bound to refer patients on to specialists. Suing a doctor therefore is not an uncommon necessity as some patients will unfortunately receive negligent medical treatment at the hands of their GP.

Can I sue my doctor?

Unfortunately in some instance GPs do make mistakes and resultantly medical negligence claims are brought. Common cases brought against GPs are often brought in instances where a GP has failed to appropriately refer a patient to a specialist or because a doctor has wrongly diagnosed a patient or there has been a prolonged delay in diagnosing a patient’s illness.

If you have been unfortunate to have suffered from negligent treatment from a doctor you may be able to bring a medical negligence case. If mistakes were made during your treatment and you feel you have been victim as a result of your doctors negligent care you may be able to sue your doctor. If you have received negligent treatment by your doctor you could be entitled to an award of compensation for the injury you have suffered.
